স্কটল্যান্ডের পার্লামেন্টে প্রথম মুসলিম নেতা হামজা ইউসাফ। ৩৭ বছর বয়সি এ মুসলিম স্কটিশ ন্যাশনাল পার্টির (এসএনপি) তরুণ নেতা।
তিনি স্কটল্যান্ডে সংখ্যালঘুদের অধিকার নিয়ে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে আন্দোলন করে যাচ্ছেন। খবর আরব নিউজের।
২০১১ সালে তিনি প্রথমবার দেশটির এমপি নির্বাচিত হন। সংসদ সদস্য হিসেবে তিনি ইংরেজি ও উর্দুতে শপথ নেন।
যুক্তরাজ্যে গ্লাসগোতে জন্ম নেন হামজা ইউসাফ। ১৯৬০ সালে তার দাদা-দাদি পাকিস্তান থেকে ব্রিটেনে পাড়ি জমান।
হামজা বলেন, এখানে নেতৃত্ব দিতে গায়ের রঙ, ধর্ম-বর্ণ এসব কোনো বাধাই না। দেশের প্রতি আপনার বিশ্বাস ও ভালোবাসা থাকলেই আপনি একজন আদর্শ নেতা হতে পারবেন।
